Too much information...

I have not updated my status on Facebook for the past few weeks. I am paranoid that I might be saying too much on my status that people could care less about. So I'm keeping this blog to blurt out whatever it is that I would like to say. This is my space on cyberspace and I also could care less if others think that it is too much.

Figured I'd share some information with you since something you posted helped a friend of mine. :)

Not many people realize this. You highlight two good points about social networking. First a Little background: I am 21, quit Social Networking when I was 18 and I feel it made my adult life better and I wouldn't be where I am today probably if I didn't. My girlfriend recently quit Facebook and she feels better now and focuses on her education more. I am now a "Cyber Security Specialist", (AKA We deal with hackers and protect businesses and corporations information) thanks to the free time I gained haha.

#1 Sharing too much information on-line.

"I am paranoid that I might be saying too much on my status that people could care less about."

What you share on-line can be archived and use to track you. (Not trying to scare you from Social Networking but thats just how it is...) Which people collect and compile to assume your identity to convince services and people you know that they are you. Welcome to the art of "Social Engineering" and "Spear Phishing". (Wikipedia has good entries on it about this subject)

#2 Social Networking Fatigue.

"I have not updated my status on Facebook for the past few weeks."

This is a subject that is being studied. Teens use of social networks increase while adults tend to take periods of leave or just leave all together. It's normal for all of us.

Heres the definition for it: "n. Mental exhaustion and stress caused by creating and maintaining an excessive number of accounts on social networking sites."

In my own opinion, managing a blog or your own website is a better investment of your time than say... a Facebook page or the like. So don't worry about becoming tired of Facebook from time to time.

//Nice blog too :)
